Happy Birthday, Ginny.

April 22, 2009 By Joel Rosenberg 2 Comments

Today is Virginia Heinlein's birthday.  That's her, with her husband.  You may have heard of him.  If the world was a fairer place, Mrs. Heinlein would be 93, today, and in good health.  A very nice woman. Which reminds me of a story.  So, there I was, pounding away at the keyboard, when the phone rang.  It was my daughter Judy's science teacher. … [Read more...] about Happy Birthday, Ginny.

Videoblog: Looking for Lawyers in All the Wrong Places

April 21, 2009 By Mark Draughn 4 Comments

(Alternate title: The Return of Mumbles) I'm taking another shot at videoblogging. This is just a random story about some legal stuff on the web. (This was supposed to go up yesterday morning, but I had technical difficulties.) Here are some of the links mentioned: Gary's review of Dollhouse. Joel's story about his daughter. Million-dollar legal advice. Just Cause Law … [Read more...] about Videoblog: Looking for Lawyers in All the Wrong Places

Fourth Amendment Crazy Talk…Not

It's worth listening to as a lesson in how our rights are being chipped away. … [Read more...] about Fourth Amendment Crazy Talk…Not

A Teaching Moment, at a Public High School

April 20, 2009 By Joel Rosenberg 9 Comments

. . . which this reminded me of. It was about seven in the evening, the end of a nice spring day, and my older kid, then a junior at Washburn High in Minneapolis (a school so badly run that they had to fire all the staff, including some of the best teachers, and start over, but I digress...)  hadn't returned home.  Not a big deal; she often went over to a friend's … [Read more...] about A Teaching Moment, at a Public High School

Scattershot 2009-04-20

Some random shots around the web: I don't know what this blog is all about, but The Broadview Blog has some cool art. Obama on Warrentless Wiretaping: Worse Than Bush? I can't remember the movie Warning From Space, but I know I must have seen it because I remember the freaky starfish aliens. This reads like a parody of protectionism, but I don't think he's kidding. Although … [Read more...] about Scattershot 2009-04-20
